Instructions to Make This Easy Banana Bread Recipe

1. Preheat your oven and line a bread pan with parchment paper or spray it with non-stick spray.

2. Then, add all of the dry ingredients to a bowl and mix until just combined. Set the bowl aside.

3. In the bowl of your stand mixer, or a separate mixing bowl, cream together the butter and both sugars until light and fluffy.

4. Next, add the vanilla, bananas, and eggs to the bowl. Mix until well combined. Try not to over mix!

5. Then, slowly incorporate the bowl of dry ingredients into the banana mixture.

6. Pour the banana bread batter into your prepared bread loaf pan and bake in the oven for 1 hour.

7. Insert a toothpick into the center of the loaf to check if it’s finished. If it needs more time, cover the pan with tinfoil and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Again, use a clean toothpick to check if it’s cooked through. If the toothpick comes out clean, then it’s finished. If the toothpick comes out with wet crumbs, then it needs more baking time. Continue to bake it, checking on it every 5 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

8. Once finished, let the banana bread cool in the pan for 20 minutes before removing it, slicing and serving.

And as always, enjoy!

Common Questions

Can I use oil instead of butter in banana bread?

Yes. If you prefer to use oil you can replace the butter in this recipe for equal parts oil.

What can I add to banana bread for flavor?

I really enjoy that this recipe has cinnamon because it complements the bananas so well. But, some other options include cardamom, nutmeg, cloves, and even orange zest, which is one of my personal favorites!

Can I freeze banana bread?

Absolutely! Once baked, you can slice and freeze the banana bread in a freezer-safe bag or container for up to one month. Then, reheat as desired.

Why is my banana bread not cooked in the middle?

This is because your bread was not baked long enough at the correct temperature. However, this is easily fixable! Tent your loaf pan with tin foil and place it back into the oven to bake for an additional 10 minutes. Insert a clean toothpick into the center to see if it comes out clean. If so, you’re bread is cooked through. If not, continue to bake and check every 5 minutes until it is done.
